Cognitive dissonance

Cognitive dissonance is the mental discomfort that results from holding two conflicting beliefs, values, or attitudes...

Okay, this has never been a debate I've wanted to enter in to, as one belief (Yes just the one!) I have is that people should use whatever camera gear they like, whether it be for size, weight, image quality or you just like it!

So with that little caveat out of the way, I'll quickly add another, I'm not a scientist, not a tech guy (Well not any longer, my Dysthymia
has taken care of that!) So bearing all this in mind I'll finally get to the horns of my current dilemma, a very first world dilemma and therefore probably not very important in the grand scheme of things...

Full Frame Vs APSC, there I said it! (Dons a hard hat and jumps into a trench!) I've been playing with the Panasonic Lumix S5 II over the past few weeks and quite honestly I'm finding it a bit of a joy to be honest. It's quite nice to look at without being downright sexy like a Fujifilm X-T5, very logically laid out and the Menu's are not that bewildering unlike some manufacturers I can think of! It may not be as robust nor as stylish a Leica SL but then again I could buy five of them for the same money! Only 24 megapixels compared to my Fuji's 40 and yet I think I prefer it?

Image noise just doesn't come into the equation at all but then it doesn't that much on the Fuji's to be fair, the exception is when I foul up the exposure and have to pull at the shadows with a tug of war rope to get something usable but that's just good old fashioned human error.

As they so often say it's all in the details and that's kinda my point, I really just can't see a lot of difference between 24mp on full frame and 40 on APSC? In fact I might stick my neck out and say there actually might just be a little more detail from my 24mp "Full Frame" (Hate that term! My Fuji's show all of the frame too!)
I've just gone out and bought a couple of Sigma's F2 Contemporary Prime lenses as well as the Panasonic 28-200mm F4-7.1 travel zoom lens, so now not even the weight of a "Full Frame" is a problem anymore.

So my personal belief that "Full frame" was really heavy and that 24mp would not be as good as a 40mp APSC sensor
for image detail in landscape photography, have taken a considerable knock. Only time will tell what if any will win out or if I'll just have to try to struggle on (Sigh) with my first world problem of having two wonderful camera systems? Hell ain't a bad place to be! (ACDC for those wondering?)
