I was lucky enough to be able to complete a full circuit of Doc Tarn from Watendlath Village on an absolutely perfect day last week! It was dry clear and crisp with some fascinating wispy cloud formations in the sky, we headed up from Watendlath Village via Black Waugh round Dock Tarn and returned via Green Combe and Great Crag. For those new to the area, be careful the way from Back Waugh to the foot of the fell path to the Tarn is very boggy and indistinct, The way to the Tarn is quite steep and rocky but well marked and a good path. Once you reach the plateau, the walking is much easier though the way around the Tarn is again a little boggy but at least much easier to navigate keeping to the waterside! I managed to fall this day, scrambling a steep mossy embankment camera in hand (Yes I'm a bit daft a times)! Be careful up there it is quite treacherous and keep warm, make sure to take enough clothing and food to keep your spirits up. Hopefully, like me you will think it worth all the trouble though!
Enjoy...
Cheers Jules..
